Welcome to the Department of Experimental Physics 5, which is led by Prof. Peter Jakob at the Institute of Physics, University of Würzburg in Germany!

Our research area is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS). Projects at our lab focus on the development of new techniques and instrumentation as well as applications on biological systems, ranging from single cells to plants, animals and humans.

Prof. Bert Hecht The research of the group is centered around Nano-Optics and Bio-Photonics. Ultrasensitive (nano-)optical techniques are employed to investigate complex matter at the nanoscale.
